Let's Get Ready to Rumble!!! It's March and at my house, basketball is always on. Now that my boys are getting older, they have joined in on the fun too. They've been going to games with their dad and watching on TV too. I don't claim to know much about basketball, but I can tell you that incorporating a little hoops into my lessons has helped a lot of my hard to engage students.
Last year I had a student that just loved to be outdoors. Coming to tutoring was so hard on him, but he was at his best when we would get the hoops out. Here is one of my current students playing Even and Odd Basketball.
In this game, I shout out a number and she decides if it is even or odd and throws the ball into that basket. You can also use multiplication facts and shout out 4 times 5. The student would shout out 20 and shoot into the even basket.
It's been a lot of fun watching my students over the year soak in the basketball. I love to see the big grins as they play. There's a lot of great resources out there that involve basketball, so many in fact that I made a March Madness pin board to keep them all in one place.
So for now, go ahead and grab my Even and Odd freebie and make sure to stop by the pinterest board for more inspiration.
