Reading File Folder Playing Cards will help you get your finger tips quickly on words your student is struggling with. There are over 20 different sets of words using grade level phonics. Pair these up with your small groups or tutor sessions.
For example, I use the Hot Spot method to have my students mark what words they struggle with when they are reading at home with a parent. Read more about that here. When they bring it back the next tutor session, I quickly look over what words they struggled with and then I know right away which file folder game cards to pull for our game that day.
In this book, my student marked the word sacrifice. She thought that both c's made a hard sound. We did a quick lesson about the sounds of c using my reading file folder playing cards. Then we read together again in her chapter book and made a list of any words we encountered that had a hard or soft c in it.
You can also just work through all of the sets of words as you tutor each time. I also have lots of different game boards to use with these file folder cards. There is a free one available on my Facebook Fan Page and then others available in my store for just $2.00 a piece.
Check out this super fun one! This is the Army file folder game board. I use dollar store army men as our game markers. It's a big hit with my boy students. Check out my file folder games here on the blog or over at Teachers Pay Teachers.
You may be wondering how I keep track of all my cards! There are tons of them. In the upper corner each set has a number so that you can easily sort them if you decide to combine them. To store them, I use baseball trading card pouches, but a small expandable file or even a recipe box would work.
As usual-I can't help but do a giveaway any time I make something new! One lucky person will win Reading File Folder Game Cards and baseball trading card organizers to keep it all neat. Two other people will win a copy of this too.
