The Tutor House: Guest Blogger: A Modern Teacher

I don't know about you, but I am constantly trying to save a buck here and there. I love finding a bargain and a good deal but sometimes you have to get real creative. When I worked with small groups in the classroom or for tutoring, I needed a place to put all my supplies. It had to be portable and super organized with many pockets.

Well, at Joann's they were having a sale on all their summer goods and what-do-you-know...I saw a garden tote that would be perfect to house all the supplies. The tote was half off $29.99 and was exactly what I needed. Sure the tote was for gardening supplies but it would do the trick for school supplies. The pockets are deep. There is plenty of room in the middle for folders, a monitoring book, and a clipboard. Even a pocket that closed for stickers or other rewards. (and a nice sturdy handle) So, think creatively. The pattern on this particular bag is not exactly me but I couldn't pass up a great deal. After I saw THIS, I knew I was getting a good thing.

In the bag I would keep:

pens
pencils
sticky notes
highlighters
stapler
folders
paper
monitoring binder
clipboard
scissors
ruler

And are you wondering about the monitoring binder? Well, for me, I take lots of monitoring notes because I have a really bad memory. (ha) My monitoring though is very simple. I just don't like things complicated. I thought I would share with you my data sheet. You can get it for free HERE.

Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing this blog post. I'll be looking forward for your other posts as well. Just by reading your blog, I can say that you are such an awesome Math Tutor and I guess you can easily handle things without any pressure. Math Tutors like you are a necessity for our students nowadays. When they reach middle school, they are already afraid of Math because of so many reasons. It's a good thing that there are Math Tutors like you who are always willing and open to help. Keep it up! By the way, you have such a nice page. I'll try to visit some other time.
