TpT Freebies for Tutors #7

Whew!  Summer is coming to a close too quickly.  I wish we could have an endless summer.  Todays freebies are focused on basic addition practice.  So obviously, this is aimed at younger students.  You would be surprised though, how many older students need help with the basics too.

Addition

M and M Game Board for Addition

We'll start with something very basic from Multilanguage Multiage.  They put together a M and M game board.  All you would need to throw in is some candy and let the child make their own groups to add up.  Slide the game board into a sheet protector and let the student write in the box with a dry erase marker.

Sandcastle Addition Game Board

Games 4 Learning has amazing stuff!  This sandcastle board is creative and interesting to play.  Thanks for making such great freebies!  Teresa also has a few other free game boards that practice basic operations.

Oh Snap!  Card Game

Terri Thornton of The Creative Apple put together directions for a game very close to my heart....Oh Snap!  This is a game played with a deck of cards.  Players flip up one card each, add them together and yell out the answer.  So much fun!  Thanks Terri.

QR Addition Game

Ever used QR codes?  Lucky girl uses them to check work in an activity used to practice basic addition.  The students add and then scan the QR to check themselves.  I think this activity would work well with a tutoring student because you only need one iPod, iPad, or android to do this process.  Thanks for thinking out of the box Lucky Girl!  Maybe you could use these premade QR's backwards and write different problems to go with them.  You could make them a little harder using order of operations.  Just a thought.
