Test Prep Tips

While many of us feel like "test" is just a bad four letter word, it's one of those things in life that you have to prepare your students for. One of the best tools for test prep with my tutoring students is my DIY Jenga.  This game works for a wide range of ages too.  I take the blocks and write a variety of topics to get them ready across the board for their next big test.


My students are motivated to practice because it's not just another worksheet thrown at them, it's a non-threatening game that's simple to play too.  Look over some of the tests that you have given or if you have examples for state testing, decide which kind of questions would fit well on a Jenga block.  Write the questions on them and use in a tutoring session or in the classroom as a center.  If you can sneak it in as a center, you'll still be able to meet some of your other demands while keeping students sharp and prepared for testing.
