Nuts N' Bolts for Reading

I am always on the hunt for interesting ways to work with children.  I happened upon this post about making reading centers.  I loved this idea!  So many ways to use this.  Great for fidgety students too.

The idea is to write letters on each surface of the nut and then thread it onto the bolt.  You could do word families easily.  This works for nonsense words too to practice sounding out. 

My other idea is to use the letters to come up with a mystery word.  Tell the student to spin the nuts and see how many words they can make.  The end goal is to use all the letters on the nuts to make one word.
